History

118 Avenue is one of the oldest streets in Edmonton. It once linked the City of Edmonton in the west with the Town of Beverly in the east. The Alberta Avenue name covers the stretch from 109 Street to Wayne Gretzky Drive.

Revitalization began in 2006, followed in 2008 by the City of Edmonton's Streetscape Project. Since then, many storefronts have been renewed through the City's Facade Improvement Matching Grant Program.
